Meet Stacey Dawes

Waterfront living and an easy commute:

Stacey in BoatThis is what drew the Bel Air raised Stacey Dawes to Dundalk. "My husband and I were boaters in the city when living in Canton and knew we wanted to still be by the water." It was the lure of the water, the proximity to the city and the neighborhood feel that sealed the deal.

CHOOSING DUNDALK:

We were not quite ready for full suburban life and our options were Anne Arundel County, Middle River or Dundalk. Anne Arundel was just too far from the city and probably out of our price range." They decided on Dundalk because of familiarity with the area from when they used to boat to Mariner's Landing on Bear Creek from Canton.

DUNDALK'S SMALL-TOWN FEELWith Sons

Dundalk has more character than the more distant suburban areas they were considering.  "When we go out to eat we go to The Seasoned Mariner and Dock of the Bay - little gems of restaurants. We would probably eat at Fridays or some other place just as unremarkable if we lived further out in the suburbs."

DUNDALK'S BIG-CITY ACCESS

Stacey likes the proximity to the city. "When we go out, my husband and I still eat in Canton and Fells Point. We're fifteen minutes from home. We still get the benefits of the city without paying city taxes. And we like the safety of the county."

Dawes HomeFAVORITE ACTIVITIES

"We love to boat and get out on the water as much as possible." Many of Stacey's activities involve her sons.  She used to work in the Inner Harbor, but is now a stay-at-home mom.

"We also belong to the Sparrows Point Country Club, which is just a mile from our house. We play golf there and our sons do, too. We also use the pool there. The Edgemere - Sparrows Point Recreation Council is big in our life now." Her sons play all the sports that the Rec Council offers.

Stacey and her husband used to be involved in their community association before "two kids and a busy schedule" ended that.

BEST THING ABOUT STACEY'S NEIGHBORHOOD

"In a lot of waterfront communities, there are no sidewalks and people kind of park in their front yards. But in our neighborhooDan + Sam on Boatd, everyone takes pride in their property and it has a lot of sidewalks and normal roads."

Many thanks to DRC volunteer John Bailey for writing this profile!
