Bringing the Past into the Future
The Commercial Improvement Grant helps businesses and offices preserve and rehabilitate their space–inside and out!
The Commercial Improvement Grant is provided with funds from the State of Maryland Department of Housings and Community Development’s Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative Grant. This Grant is available to business on Dundalk Ave or Eastern Ave who fall in either 21222 or 21224 zip codes.
Commercial Improvement Grants may be used to make exterior and interior improvements to your business location. All funds must be used to make capitol improvements. Funds can not cover: inventory, equipment that is not permanently installed, staff or other moveable improvements in the physical location. Preference will be given to exterior projects.
Lighting, signage, awnings, siding, doors, flooring, bathroom repairs and new paint are typically approved.
To date 14 business in the Historic Dundalk Town Center received this grant. Our most recent recipients include: Then & Again, Plush Hair Studio, and Dude’s Snack Attack
We will not issue grants for active renovation projects. If approved, renovation must start within 60 days after receiving Dundalk Renaissance’s letter of award. Construction must be completed within 90 days or an exception must be granted by the Dundalk Renaissance Design Committee. Each project must be approved by the Department of Housing & Community Development. All projects require a minimum of two contractor bids.
The amount of funding awarded to each project is determined by the significance and improvement to the overall revitalization of the Historic Dundalk Town Center. These funds are provide by the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative.
