Dundalk Renaissance was founded in April 2001 by a steering committee of volunteers leading a broad-based, community planning process. If you’re counting, that means this is our 20th anniversary as an organization, and we could not be more proud of how we are creating a Strong Dundalk!

As a community development organization we host events that bring neighbors and families together, like Family Fall Festival, Holiday Hoopla and our Milestone Award Ceremony. We also work to stabilize and celebrate our community by investing in it.

To date, we’ve attracted $23.5 million to the Historic Dundalk Town Center, $112.3 million in new mortgages throughout Dundalk. We don’t just attract money to Dundalk, we encourage others to invest.  We believe Dundalk’s best days lie ahead, which is why we incentivize developers to create quality renovations through our Market Boost program which raise property values by 40-50% and encourage homeowners to make repairs and improvements on their homes.  Strengthened home values mean more generational wealth that Dundalk families can count on. Over the years Dundalk homeowners have invested over $65,000 into their home.

At its core, Dundalk is a wonderful community.  We value the small-town feel, and know that feel is thanks to folks of different socioeconomic backgrounds. This is why we’re proud to have programs like Senior Home Repair, which helps Dundalk seniors in need age in place. By attracting and winning state funding and securing small but generous individual gifts, we’ve been able to make much-needed repairs for 41 senior households totaling $228,115.18 in repairs!

Please consider a one-time or recurring $20 gift to Dundalk Renaissance today. You can help make Dundalk even stronger for the next 20 years and beyond. AND gifts up to $3,000 will be matched by Lauchman Real Estate Corporation in honor of our important anniversary. Your donation can go twice as far for Dundalk!

This year, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary of supporting Dundalk, please consider helping us begin the next 20 years of our work with an even stronger foundation by making a one-time or monthly gift.

Home Buyer Programs

Since 2014 we have incentivized 85 home buyers to buy into Dundalk through our Home Buyer and Golden Key grant programs. These grant programs help us target Dundalk’s next generation of homeowners.  A third of all Home Buyer Grantees are in their 20’s while our average Home Buyer Grantee age is 31.

Revitalizing the Historic Dundalk Town Center

The Historic Dundalk Town Center (HDTC) is Dundalk’s only state designated main street and one of X in the state of Maryland.  The HDTC has been a community gathering spot for generations.  Nestled between two parks, the HDTC features unique architecture dating back to XXXX and small businesses run almost exclusively by Dundalk residents.  The aging facades and shop interiors often need updates that small business owners wouldn’t be able to do on their own.  That’s where we come in.  To date, Dundalk Renaissance has improved 15 facades

6 pop up shops leading to 4 main street businesses.

15 façade improvements throughout the HDTC

Senior Home Repair

We believe there's a place in Dundalk for everyone, which is why we started our Senior Home Repair program so seniors aren't forced to leave their homes because they can no longer afford the repairs.  Our Senior Home Repair program helps seniors in need with crucial home repairs like new heating systems, new roofs, bathroom repairs in addition to age in place items like grab bar installations.  The average program grantee is 73 years old and earns an average of $24,819.60 a year whose repairs cost $5,563.78.  Since the program's inception in 2017? we've spent $228,115.18 on 41 senior households in our focus neighborhoods.

Financial Counseling

We believe financial literacy is the backbone to stable homeownership which is why we established a financial counseling program in 2020.

Our financial counseling program is quickly growing, reaching as far south as Washington, D.C. and as far north as Annapolis. Over two thirds of our clients are from outside Dundalk.  To date we've had 172 individuals attend workshops, one-on-one counseling, or received assistance filing there 2020 taxes.  Clients working on their credit score with our Housing and Financial Counselor saw on average a 21-point improvement on their credit score.
