About Our Housing and Financial Counseling Workshops

Our workshops are open to Baltimore City and Baltimore County residents and free to attend.  You must sign up in advance to attend.

Home Buyer Education Class

A virtual workshop meant to teach prospective home buyers everything they need to know about buying a home. This class, along with two additional hours of counseling, provides attendees with a home buyer education certificate.  Classes are select Saturdays between 10am and 4pm.

This class will meet March 25, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 and November 18.

Financial Success Workshop

Everything you need to know about building a solid financial foundation and reach your goals. This class covers credit restoration, budgeting, components of a credit score and more. This workshop is held quarterly and will meet May 2, June 6, September 5 and November 7.

Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

This workshop seeks to help homeowners who are experiencing financial difficulties, may be facing foreclosure in the immediate future and have missed one or fewer payments on their mortgage.   In addition to learning about the foreclosure process we will also cover homeowners’ rights and responsibilities prior to a missed payment and once in foreclosure. Our housing and financial counselor will help participants identify potential assistance programs.

Home Equity Conversion Mortgage/Reverse Mortgage

This workshop is for homeowners 62 years of age and will cover the financial and tax implications, payment options, associated costs and beneficiary responsibilities. Our housing and financial counselor will also have joint presentations with local lenders to assist with interested individuals.

Landlord Rights

This workshop series is part of a new initiative to help landlords better understand their role and obligations during this phase of a household’s housing journey. The workshop will cover renters application process, review of lease obligations, fair housing rights and review of eviction process. As a part of this series, we will also discuss local resources that can assist participants when challenges occur.

This class meets select Thursdays at 12pm by Zoom or at 11 Center Place. Next workshop dates: March 16, June 22 and September 21.

Tenant Rights
